My name is Ron Messersmith and I have been a woodworker for over 50 years. I began my love of woodworking while in the submarine service and statiioned in Hawaii in the early 1960's. I am self taught as I believe most woodworkers are. I have operated woodworking businesses in Hawaii, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Ohio and Washington State where I am currently living in beautiful Poulsbo on the Kitsap pennisula west of Seattle. My work spans a wide variety of areas from furniture to toys. My signature toy is the American locomotive but I will make any toy and project requested.
My home town is Wenatchee, Washington. I graduated from Eastmont High School in 1965 and entered the Navy where I served on board 5 nuclear submarines before retiring in 1989. I then relocated to Oak Harbor, Ohio where I worked as a foreman in the chemistry department of the Davis-Besse power plant of First Energy Corporation. While working at Davis-Besse, I also ran a furniture repair and antique restoration business. I left Davis-Bess in 1999 and returned to Washington state where I am have established Messersmith Woodworks.
