If you can't find it, we can make it

This page will cover a current project in progress.  This first project is a roll top desk needing restoration.  It arrived completely dismantled with significant damage to all veneered panels except for two.  All the drawers were apart with all bottoms missing.  Several other pieces were either missing or in need of complete replacement.  The pile of desk parts included some pieces from two separate desks.

After 1 week, I have completed the following:  chemically stripped the entire desk; I replaced all veneer except for two panels; all drawers were reassembled with new bottoms and one required a new back also.  The desk top had all of its veneer removed  and replaced also;  New back panels were made for the upper 'S' curve unit

You'll notice the left side drawers are not pushed all the way in.  This is because I need to build a locking mechanism for the back of the pedestal.  Once it is built, the drawers will be pushed in but locked until the tambour unit is in place and in the open position.  It will push down on a spring loaded rod that releases all drawers from their locking bars.  I am currently rebuilding the top shelf and will be making bull nosed mouldings for the desk top and the top shelf.  I also started repairs to the pigeon hole unit.

Here you can see the top shelf in place with the bull nosed mouldings for the desk top and the top shelf complete.  I also finished the lock mechanism so all the drawers are not pushed in .  I have also started work on the pigeon hole unit.  Today I'll be making a new back for it.  The origional was missing most of its quarted white oak veneer.
