Hello
,

My name is Ron Messersmith and I have been a woodworker for 40 years. I have operated woodworking businesses in Hawaii, New Hampshsire, Ohio and now Washington State. Following is a brief history of my background. If you don't want to be bored with my life, please browse our site to see for yourself the many services and products we offer.
My home town is Wenatchee, Washington. I graduated from Eastmont High School in 1965 and immediately joined the Navy. Over the next 22 years, I served on the following nuclear powered submarines: the USS Stonewall Jackson, SSBN 634, the USS John C. Calhoun, SSBN 630, the USS Plunger, SSN595, and the USS Tunny SSN 637. I retired on new year's day, 1987 and went to work as a chemistry department foreman at the Davis-Besse nuclear power unit in Oak Harbor, Ohio. This was a First Energy Corporation power unit. We left First Energy in 1999 and established our current business in Poulsbo, Washington.
I am a self taught woodworker as I believe most are. I began my love of woodworking in 1968 while stationed in Hawaii. During my 12 years in Hawaii, I worked at the wood hobby shop at the Pearl Harbor Submarine Base and also ran a custom woodworking shop in Waikiki. We made monkey pod and koa tables and produced approxiamately 100 bowls a day. Eventually, market forces from the Phillipines would force us to shut down. After leaving Hawaii, I would establish a custom woodworking business in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and then a furniture repair and antique restoration business in Ohio. During the past 4 decades, I have attended many weekend and week long woodworking workshops. I also own every woodworking magazine and book ever published. My woodworking encompasses many areas and styles. I make furniture in Queen Anne, Chippendale, Mission, Shaker and my own designs. I offer a complete line of Windsor Style chairs, heirloom quality wood toys, jewelry boxes, desk accessories, pen and pencel sets and anything that you might imagine being made from a piece of wood.
My wife, Tomie, is the other half of the business. She is from Yakushima, Japan and has been an American citizen for over 40 years. She performs many of the non woodworking tasks such as chemical stripping, finishing, chair caning, fiber rush work, ect. She is also very proficient at Japanese Bunka Embroidery.
